The Woman
Letter from Lori Tishfield, Founder of Natural Talent
Whenever people ask me what I do, I always lead with, “My name is Lori Tishfield and I am an Actorpreneur.” It always results in some laughter in the room.
Let’s talk about the first part- “Actor”.
I’m a graduate of the Boston Conservatory at Berklee with a BFA in Musical Theatre, a member of the Actor’s Equity Association and Screen Actor's Guild eligible (thanks to the final season of Orange is the New Black- WOO!).
Orange is the New Black, Season 7
Second part- “preneur” as in “Entrepreneur”.
Upon graduating college, I realized that being an actor in a major city is pretty complicated. You often have to juggle "survival jobs" to pay the bills while pursuing what you're really passionate about. To put it simply- it's a seesaw. On one end, is economic stability and working a consistent non-acting job. On the other end is auditioning your butt off to make those dreams come to fruition. If all of your weight is on “economic stability”, you’re probably not auditioning as much as you want to and questioning the meaning of life. If all of your weight is on “auditioning” then you’re probably wondering how you’re going to pay your rent that month.
After being on both sides of this metaphorical seesaw, I decided that it was about time that this whole “starving artist” stigma be challenged. When I launched Natural Talent, I did just that...and ironically, I did it with food!
To my Talent:
I give you stress-free, flexible survival jobs that allow you to use your performance skills in advocation of a healthier lifestyle not only for yourself, but your community as well. And get this- NO ONE misses an audition or callback on my watch. No guilt trips. Nada.
To my Future Clients:
I give you reliable, charismatic people who NEED the work, are passionate about your product, and want to take it to the next level. This is not just another demo agency with bored people just saying “Try this. It’s good.”. This is not a promotional model agency with pretty people just standing there. We perform. We thrive on passion. Whether you are in a bodega or the Barclays Center, we are here for every stage of your growth.
Always holding a good thought,
LoriTishfield
